THE STORY – HOW YOU MET AND THE PROPOSAL
Apollos and I met thru a neighbor (Mr. Baytop) that lived next door to me. Mr. Baytop and Apollos were very good friends. I was new to the neighborhood and kept to myself; whereas Mr. Baytop was very social. I would always here someone pulling up next door on a motorcycle with music but would never see the person. One day after hearing the music my neighbor knocked on my door and told me that they had a friend that wanted to meet me. The phone numbers were exchanged and that night we talked for 8 hours. Apollos was a truck driver and I talked to him the whole distance from Georgia to Virginia!! The conversation is still going lol!! THE PROPOSAL-My husband is a bit of a jokester or so he thinks! He proposed on Christmas Day 2012 (Took a while for the big day). We had finished opening our gifts and were sitting around talking about what we had received when he told me that some of the garland on the tree was falling off. As I went to fix it I saw a ring hanging from it; when I turned around he was on his knee asking me to Marry him!! OMG I was overjoyed I must of pulled every bit of garland off the tree!! He did a great job with the ring I LOVE IT!!
THE WEDDING – WEDDING THEME + OVERALL VISION
Our wedding was so BEAUTIFUL!! We had our ceremony and reception in the same location. Our ceremony took place on the patio at Legacy Hall with the cocktail hour and the reception inside. The bridal party consisted of the Matron of honor, Best Man, 1 Bridesmaids,1 Groomsman, Ring bearer, Flower girl and 3 people that gave me away (My 2 older Brothers and Son). We opted for a small wedding being that we are middle aged which turned out to be the perfect choice!! We had a guest list of 100 people which was just enough. Our wedding theme was Glitz and Glam!! I was told by many guest that it was very elegant and surprising to many because they had know idea what to expect! We wanted a nice wedding with good food, good drinks and good fun while all on a budget! A LOT OF DIY!! We couldn’t have asked for a better day!!
MOST MEMORABLE – FAVORITE MOMENTS + FAMILY TRADITIONS
I will start from the beginning of memorable moments. The first was after I got my dress on I had to go the bathroom. I looked over at my Matron of Honor (Paula) & told her oh no I have to go! She said oh my god not now- I said yes now! We laughed so hard all the way to the bathroom! I said how are we going to do this? She said well I will just have to hold it up from the back while you go! I said this is so embarrassing- I know Apollos (my husband) would love to see this!! 2nd was when I saw my husband to be walking onto the patio- I knew at that moment this is it!! 3rd was when my son walked down the isle & he looked at me & said your beautiful mom! 4th was when my husband began to cry as he was saying his vows!! 5th THE KISS! 6th introduction as Mr. & Mrs. Shaw. One of my favorite moments was the toast and listening to my husband telling all of our guest just how much he loved me!! Tradition – Soul Train Line!!
