THE WEDDING – WEDDING THEME + OVERALL VISION
Oliver and I wanted a lavish and floral wedding that overlooked the Sydney Harbour. As we live in Sydney together we wanted to keep our celebrations close to home, whilst still blowing away our guests… We wanted our ceremony and reception to contrast in terms of colours, whilst keeping our floral theme consistent throughout our entire day.
Although our reception was also overflowing with stunning flowers, we opted for bright reds, purples and pinks to strongly contrast with our white ceremony. We wanted our guests to feel like they were in a romantic floral wonderland as they feasted on Quay’s immaculate food and drinks. We had personalised cushions designed and made to match our colour theme, ensuring that our guests were comfortable and relaxed whilst sharing our special day with us.
Quay restaurant was the venue that Oliver took me to for our first date. Not only is the food there spectacular but the view is absolutely breathtaking! Having the Sydney harbour and Opera House as our wedding backdrop couldn’t have been more perfect, it was an obvious choice for us from the start of our wedding planning process.
MOST MEMORABLE – FAVORITE MOMENTS + FAMILY TRADITIONS
It was an extraordinarily busy day to say the least! My bridal party and mum came over to my house in the morning to meet with our makeup artist and hairdresser. We sipped on a couple of glasses of champagne to calm the nerves and took far too many photos. The boys on the other hand got themselves ready on our yacht; I assume their experience was a lot faster and more relaxed than ours. When the cars eventually picked us up we were driven to Quay where we proceeded with our ceremony in the stunning white rose-filled room. After we had some more photographs taken outside the venue we joined our guests for casual drinks and canapes before our formal dinner. After the main course our wedding party kick-started the speeches which were absolutely hilarious! If my makeup wasn’t already ruined by then it definitely was after! We shared our first dance before cutting our cake, and then after everyone had eaten some dessert the dancefloor really got going. It was a night that I can honestly say that I never wanted to end!
