It all started with Diana Krimowski’s formal portrait a month ago. Well, not exactly. It actually started ten years ago when Laura Vagts married Justin Fulton, brother to Chandler Fulton, Diana’s fiance. Not to confuse things, the brothers share fraternal twin sisters Alex Fulton Bain and Whitney Fulton Lee, both recent brides. Alex married in November 2013. Whitney married in June 2014. Now it was Diana’s turn to marry on October 18, 2014.
Alex had an idea. “Since we have our wedding gowns readily available (and dry cleaned) and we know our gowns still fit, why don’t we all take a portrait together wearing them on the day Diana has her portrait?” Laura, who’s gown was still preserved in a box in a storage closet, wasn’t quite as convinced. “ I was worried that, after having twins five years ago, I wouldn’t be able to fit into my gown.” Willing to give it a try, the portrait was set, complete with hair and makeup as all three Fulton’s (and one Fulton-to-be) readied for their historic moment as four brides together.
Gowns were lined up in the Princess Anne Country Club Women’s Lounge like a pop up bridal boutique. Each woman giggled with delight as gowns were hung up on locker doors, all ranging in style and silhouette. Offering myriad yet timeless designs from a spaghetti strap jeweled ballgown with tulle skirt (Laura); to a lace bodice overlay silk ballgown (Alex.) Capped lace off-the-shoulder A line gown with lace overlay (Whitney) complimented a strapless silk gown with asymmetrical ruffle skirting (Diana.) All four wore veils ranging from finger tip to cathedral; and three wore pearls. All bridal shoes varied in style but shared the love of open toe (Laura used a contemporary evening sandal.)
With the swish of moving satin and the floating vision of veils multiplied by four moving towards the photo set up; these four beautiful brides, with laughter in their voices and eyes, arrived ready for their close up. Diana, the bride-to-be, had her moment in the spotlight first. Radiant and clearly excited at the anticipation of her upcoming nuptials, she smiled easily as the strobes popped. Additional chairs were moved in and the Fulton Photo Finale began. Endless squeals of delight were shared by everyone, but especially evident from Alex who dreamed up the novel idea to begin with.
It was clearly an opportunity to make a moment matter and these four had done so in grace and style.
